Abortion rights in Texas recently became a pressing issue for many young women when Dobb's decision stated that abortion was no longer a constitutional right, making it up to the state whether they wish to allow access. Texas took a very extreme route and banned all abortions after 6 weeks. It shocked and startled me to hear that I no longer had easy access to abortion and other reproductive rights. I felt scared for my future and I was curious as to how my peers were feeling about this issue too. I wanted to use this survey to gain new insight into the opinions of my acquaintances and to spread possible awareness on the matter.

The Snowball Surveying Method involved sending out the survey to 6 of my friends, asking them to take it, and, in turn, sending out the survey to two of their friends. The process then repeats, snowballing. 

1. I shared the link to my survey on my Instagram story and Snapchat story. They stayed available for everyone to see for 24 hours and I collected around 35 responses. 

2. I used the snowball method, collecting 18 more responses. 

The Dobbs decision made by the Supreme Court in June of 2022 took away the constitutional right to reproductive choice in our country. States now get to decide whether or not they chose to criminalize abortion in their state. Texas has gone all out in its efforts to take away this choice for reproductive rights. Going forward, people may choose to factor abortion laws into where they reside/go to school/work because the right to abortions is not federally protected anymore. I wanted to find out the opinions of my peers, the people that surround me, and learn how they feel about these increasingly present matters.
